The Sunday Times had an article on missing people which had a bit about Richey Edwards of Manic Street Preachers + how his family dealt with his disappearance (they finally had him legally declared dead in 2008). NME had a big feature on best ever lyricists which featured the likes of Richey Edwards, Jarvis Cocker, Kurt Cobain, PJ Harvey and Bruce Springsteen plus various ppl quoting from their favourites so the likes of Morrisey, Lennon/McCartney, Lou Reed and the Sex Pistols got quoted. I finished reading The Company of the Dead. It's about a group of people from an alternative present who go back in time to the Titanic to try & change history. Saw that Joy of Disco programme the other night on BBC4, it was rather fab. It covered similar ground to Alice Echols' book Hot Stuff in that it showed how disco started off as more underground and appealing to groups who were traditionally seen as more outsiders such as gays, blacks and Latinos and it also verbalised female desire and placed it at ( Read more... )

So happy I got my copy of the REPEAT fanzine book today. REPEAT started off as a Manic Street Preachers fanzine back in 1994 and grew into a huge fanzine that covered all types of indie/rock music plus a lot of left-wing political stuff.
